Discs are the soft but strong cushions that separate the bones (vertebrae) in your spine and absorb shock as you move. Repeated strain over time, an injury, or sudden forceful movements can damage discs, irritate nerves, and produce pain, numbness, or tingling in your neck, back, arms, and/or legs.
A healthy disc has a spongy, gel-like center (nucleus) and a tough outer ring (annulus). The vertebrae (spinal bones) rock back and forth and rotate on the discs, allowing you to move easily (figure A above) If these vertebrae are out of their normal alignment, and are causing stress on the disc, that vertebrae must be corrected and adjusted so that it can heal (figure B above). Rehabilitation and proper exercise are also needed to strengthen the spine when chiropractic-based correction has been achieved. At Broomall Total Health Center, patients enjoy the convenience of both chiropractic treatments and physical therapy. We invite you to see us soon.
Disc conitions and herniations are also highly effectively treated with our Decompression therapy system. To see more on this FDA cleared treatment proceedure see Decompression Therapy.
At Broomall Total Health Center our comprehensive approach has been producing excellent outcomes for our patients. Our treatments not only restore them to their healthy pre-injury condition, but can help to prevent problems in the future. We welcome the opportunity to help you.
